This page will be about my daily life and family stuff.
I’m in my 50s. I’ve been working for the City of Baltimore for over 28 years. Can’t wait to retire. I collected stamps for about 20 years then sold them all on EBay. I like photography and History. Just wrote my first book and published it on LuLu.com. Hope to write more.
I guess the facts about me will be in no particular order. I’ll just write them down as I think of them:
Fact #1: I’m married to Kathy and have a 14 year old daughter named Julie. I’ve always called Kathy ‘Babe’ and Julie ‘Jules’. UPDATE ON THIS – We separated February 2009
Today is Thanksgiving and both of them went to St. Patrick’s Church to help feed the homeless. My wife and I have always done some sort of service work in the past 17 years we’ve been together. I’m glad my daughter is finally getting into doing some. Not that she has a choice. The school she attends has a requirement to do 60 hours before graduation. I’ve always thought it odd to be forced to do community service, but I guess for a teenager, a little push can be good. Hopefully she’ll come away today with a sense of gratitude, enough so that she will want to continue doing this kind of thing.
Fact #2: I am a recovering addict.
Actually, this should have been fact #1. I never want to forget that I am an addict. I put it at #2 because my wife and daughter are very important to me. Not more than my recovery but more than my addiction. More on this will be in my Only with Vigilance page.
Fact #3: I work and have worked most of my life.
As mentioned above, I have been a city employee for over 26 years. I am in charge of maintenance at 2 of the 3 water plants. It use to be an interesting job but now it is more of a pain than anything else. Being a supervisor is like being a day care provider. It’s hard to believe that grown adults act like such children when it comes to work!
Before working for the city, I did fire restoration work for 7 years. I was in the Air Force before that. And before that I had various maintenance jobs – best of which was when I worked at the Plim Plaza Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland. I was 16 at the time.
Awesome idea…………good luck…………..keep in touch. You are always welcome in our family.
